AMPLE

Efficient Inventory Tracker for Food Banks

As part of the InternHacks program, our group knew we wanted to create a project that would have a positive impact on the world. Due to the pandemic, various individuals have lost their sources of food and their connection with local food banks. Alternatively, food banks have faced difficulties assisting those in need. Our group aspires to help these individuals by creating Ample - The Website to assist food banks in organizing and mantaining their data in a efficient manner. For individuals who are in need for alternate resources, please visit our paired resource Ample - an App available for iOS and Android that will direct you to nearest food-banks and show the availability & necessity of many items.

Food Insecurity

Food Insecurity is defined as a lack of consistent access to a sufficient amount of food for a healthy and active life. Due to the limitations set by due to the pandemic, various small communities have felt a staggering effect, especially in locating and receiving resources such as food. After Covid19, atleast 40% of the increase is coming from individuals who have never been to a food bank before, including people who have lost their jobs or are supporting a sick family member.

Our Purpose

The purpose of this website is to develop a platform that will serve food-banks and assist them in organizing, tracking, and editing their inventories. We know that in situations where food banks face high capacity, it may be difficult to monitor their data in an organized fashion. We hope this secure, orderly platform will help those that always help others.

Locations We Serve

As of now, we primarily focus on food banks in New York, as that is where the virus hit the hardest and where food insecurity is on a steep rise. As our groups continues to develop this platform, we hope to expand this worldwide.
